Keith Thomas from First Cymru Buses won the Driver of the Year Award at this years Wales Transport Awards. We caught up with his after his win to find out a bit more:
How did it feel to win an award at the Wales Transport Awards?
To win the best driver award felt pretty special. I know there would have been a lot of entries for this category, so to be shortlisted in the top three and to then win it was an amazing proud moment.
How did you find the experience of the Awards night?
It was a great event that was well organised with networking before and after the event. The venue was stunning and you could really see how much hard work and planning had gone into making this a great night for Welsh Transport to recognise their great people.
How do you strive to make a difference in the Welsh transport business market?
Just by making sure that every journey for my passengers is safe and as on time as possible with a kind, friendly approach. When a passenger leaves at the end of their journey, I want them to tell others how good their journey was.
What are your goals for the next 12 months?
Just to keep doing what I do as a driver and show others what it means to the industry to do a good job.
What one piece of advice would you give to those trying to break into the Welsh transport industry?
You have an opportunity to be the best in Welsh transport, people will return if they get great service. It is up to you to give it and be the best.
