Owens Group won the Transport Operator of the Year Award, which was kindly sponsored by Caldicot Group. We caught up with them after their win to find out a bit more:
1. How did it feel to win an award at the Wales Transport Awards?
It was extremely nerve-racking during the build-up and announcement but we are all extremely pleased to have been shortlisted for 2 awards and to have won “Transport Operator of the Year” was a very special feeling – especially given the high calibre of the finalists and the fact it covered all of Wales.
2. How did you find the experience of the Awards night?
The whole team commented during the event and after the event how professional yet personal the awards night felt. It was a great combination which resulted in all of Team Owens thoroughly enjoying the evening.
3. How do you strive to make a difference in the Welsh transport business market?
We operate with integrity with the latest trucks and trailers and to the highest possible standards. We maintain our vehicles to a very high standard and provide a reliable value for money service which in turn helps support our customers. We care about our impact on the environment and are currently trialling Gas fuelled trucks. As probably the biggest haulier in Wales we hope that what we do and how we do it sets the standard for all other transport companies to aspire to.
4. What are your goals for the next 12 months?
We have seen exceptional growth in the past 4 years – the next 12 months will be a period of consolidation and identifying efficiencies throughout the business to ensure we remain competitive but at the same time ensuring we maintain our excellent service levels.
5. What one piece of advice would you give to those trying to break into the Welsh transport industry?
Always work with integrity, encourage and promote a positive culture and focus on providing exceptional levels of customer service – this is the recipe that has made Owens Group successful.
